Latin: Verbena officinalis
Common names: Herb of Grace, Juno's Tears, Pigeon Grass.
Vervain has many mystical properties, and is often used in blends for
divination, dream magick and prophesy. It can also be used to promote
creativity.
In Egyptian mythology, when Isis wept over Her dead husband, Osiris,
vervain sprung up where Her tears fell.
Vervain was a sacred herb to the ancient Celts and Romans, and was
often used on altars.
It was believed that vervain would protect against headaches and
snake bites.
The flowers and leaves are used in magick and rituals. It is a good
compliment to use with mugwort.
