Dark Moon Rite to Hecate
From: The Little Book of Moon Magic, by Teresa Moorey.

Hecate was a Titaness - a Greek Goddess even older than the Olympian
pantheon.  She was goddess of magic and was believed to stalk the
highways and byways when the Moon was Dark.  Crossroads were
especially sacred to her.

You will need a black candle; incense containing myrrh and/or
patchouli; a black stone such as onyx or apache tear (one that you
can look into); a small silver bowl containing water; a white candle.

Light the black candle and hold the stone in your hands.  As you look
deeply into it, think about the month gone by.  Do you wish things
had been different?  What changes would you like to make?  Maybe you
are happy with the way it went and want things to continue in the
same way.  Ask Hecate to give you wisdom and self-knowledge.

When you are read, wash the black stone in the water, light the white
candle from the black candle's flame, and give thanks to Hecate for
anything that you have realized.
