To Cast a Circle and releasing a cirlce
(provided bt Shining Raven-wing)
Stand at the North, with your wand stretched to the sky.
Visualize a green mist and say:
Hail to the guardian of the watchtower of the North,
Ancient one of Earth, I call you to attend this circle
Charge this with your powers, Old Ones!
Stand at the East, with your wand stretched to the sky.
Visualize a yellow mist and say:
Hail to the guardian of the watchtower of the East,
Ancient one of Air, I call you to attend this circle
Charge this with your powers, Old Ones!
Stand at the South, with your wand stretched to the sky.
Visualize a red mist and say:
Hail to the guardian of the watchtower of the South,
Ancient one of Fire, I call you to attend this circle
Charge this with your powers, Old Ones!
Stand at the West, with your wand stretched to the sky.
Visualize a blue mist and say:
Hail to the guardian of the watchtower of the West,
Ancient one of Water, I call you to attend this circle
Charge this with your powers, Old Ones!
Back at the North, walk the circle with your Athame at your waist,
pointing outwards and say:
Here is the boundary of the circle of stones.
Naught but love shall enter in.
Naught but love shall emerge from within.
Charge this with your powers, Old Ones!
The Circle is cast!
If you need to leave the circle, cut an arched doorway at the NE
with your athame, cutting counter-clockwise to leave, and clockwise to
seal it on re-entry.
Now you may light your altar candles and do whatever ritual work Is
needed. I like to use a prayer from the Draconian tradition when I
light my first candle :
I strike a spark
Against the Dark
Between the Shadows and the Stars
That I may see the Way.
To Release the Circle:
Face North with wand upheld, and say:
Farewell to the guardian of the watchtower of the North,
Ancient one of Earth, I thank you for your presence here.
Go in power.
Repeat in kind for the East, South, and West (see "Calling the Four
Quarters for reference.)
Lay wand at altar. Walk the Circle from North to East to South to
West, with athame in hand, drawing in/cutting the circle. When you
arrive at the North again, the circle is no more.
